SARC2008 : Self-Adaptation for Robustness and Cooperation in Holonic Multi-Agent Systems
S.A.R.C. is an International Workshop to be held at the Second International Conference on Self-Adaptive and Self-Organizing Systems (SASO 2008) Isola di San Servolo (Venice), Italy, October 20-24, 2008
Proceedings will be published by the IEEE Computer Society
This workshop is planned on a one day workshop and consists of two sessions: presentation session on the morning, work session in the afternoon. The two sessions of the workshop are interactive, we welcome researchers and software engineers interested in the theme of the workshop

Work session
The objective is to lead to some outline for journal papers
14h00 - 15h30: Distributed solving (2 teams)
Question A: “Robustness : impact of the organisation on the fault tolerances ?”
list of advantages ? (cooperative survey, . . . )
list of disadvantages ? ( rebuild the organisational links, an agent dies ? what about its subsystem ?, . . . )
particular needs, properties for robustness in holonic multi-agent system ?
Question B: “Cooperation vs Autonomy”
in what way cooperation limits agents autonomy ?
control mechanisms for the agents autonomy ? holonic norms violation detection ? sanctions ?
15h30 - 16h00: Syntheses presentation
16h00-16h30 : Cofee break!
16h30 - 17h30: Question C: “What problems need holonic multiagent systems ?”
what are the properties which a system (physical or not) has to have to be managed / simulated by a holonic multiagent system
what are the properties which a system (physical or not) has NOT to have to be managed / simulated by a holonic multiagent system
evaluation of holonic multiagent system solutions vs multiagent system solution, vs others solutions ?
17h30 - 18h00: Discussions
discussion on the integration of Holonic agents in Industry: Robustness is the key issue for the acception of multiagent systems and holonic multiagent systems ?
discussion on the activities envisaged following the workshop ..
18h00:End of the workshop
